In support of Television doctor Dawn Harper’s national campaign for the Charity Brain Tumour Research we’re hoping to raise thousands of pounds for the cause. We’re hosting a 12 hours spinathon across all of our clubs where teams of six will ride non-stop for the duration

To take part in the event, which takes places on February 27th across all gyms, contact Carol Robertson on 07817 878407 or email carol@braintumourresearch.org. You can always have a chat with one of our receptionists on the day to find out how else you can get involved!

[2015] Children in Need – Xercise4Less raises £3000

Xercise4Less raised nearly 3000 pounds for Children in Need 2015

Hats off to all the staff over at Xercise4Less Liverpool Belle Valle who raised a modest £508.00 towards the cause and also a shout of for the creativity that Xercise4Less Sunderland showed in such little time contributing £203.00 in under 24 hrs – well done all!

Children in Need 2015 – Be a Hero

Stick a dotty pair of Y fronts on your heads and colour yourselves yellow because it’s Children in Need! This year we really want everyone to get involved. Touch a few hearts and change a few lives by dressing to impress in your favourite super hero outfit!

We’re serving up back to back classes from 9.30 to 2.30 in the afternoon across all of our clubs and the best part is that if you turn up dressed as your favourite childhood hero we’ll donate £2 per member to Children in Need!

Staff will also be raising awareness and walking round with donation buckets but if you’re jumping around and hadn’t planned on having any change in your pocket, then you can always give your contribution towards the cause here online: bbc.co.uk/pudsey

Not only is it Children in Need – it is also Friday the 13th – which makes us wonder just how colourful, bizarre and fun this day will be!

Xercise4Less has become more involved in charity events and things going on in the local community.

2013: Leeds Children’s Hospital at the opening of our Leeds Gym

For our first charity event of 2013, our Leeds club was pleased to host the St Gemma’s Hospice Charity Zumbathon at the end of February. They are still totting up the funds raised however it is looking to be over £15,000 in aid of the Hospice. With over 170 people packed into our Fitness Studio, it was a great event and fantastic to see so many people getting behind St Gemma’s Hospice.

2012: The British Heart Foundation and Leeds Children’s Hospital

For our opening event in February 2012 at our new gym in Leeds, we invited along The British Heart Foundation and Leeds Children’s Hospital to attend. This resulted in a combined event increasing the awareness and profile of both causes, and raising money for the respective charities. By having clubs in different parts of the North of England, they each play a crucial part in the local community where they are based. Therefore we find it to be very important to establish strong relationships with all of our neighbours, and see where we can help out. Further down the line, we are looking to create opportunities where our employees can get involved in any local community

In Support of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

In July 2012 we welcomed military veteran Simon Buckden, who used the gym treadmills to run a full marathon to raise awareness for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Help for Heroes. Simon, who is a member of our Leeds gym, completed the distance, which was his 49th marathon in just 3hrs and 55mins, setting a fantastic athletic example to all. We work actively with Simon as he continues to undertake an incredible feat of running 100 marathons in 100 weeks.

St Gemma’s Hospice The Midnight Walk

In May 2012, at our Leeds gym we hosted The Midnight Walk, where over 800 women took part, all in aid for St Gemma’s Hospice in Leeds. Everyone started arriving from 8.00pm giving them two hours to be entertained by a local children’s break dancing group, drummers, a magician, and to sort out their fancy dress for the walk. Everyone took part in either a 7 or 10 mile walk which commenced at 10pm with a number of walkers completing their walk in just over two hours, where they were given a medal and refreshments on their return. It was a fantastic event to get involved in and a pleasure to host.
